The Human Resources Manager oversees the development and implementation of human resource policies, programs and services, including employee relations; employment practices; compensation and benefits; recruitment and orientation; training and development; retention; legal compliance and procedures; and employee communications.
Specific responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Provides leadership to Supervisors on critical employee relation issues and works directly with them to come up with practical solutions.
- Assumes responsibility for the timely and necessary communications with staff regarding personnel and human resources issues.
- Assumes direct responsibility for maintaining the personnel documentation of the health center, including maintaining personnel files in a current and confidential condition, with appropriate memos reflecting salary changes, health histories, annual evaluations, hiring letters, disciplinary documentation, termination documentation, etc.
- Acts as overall administrator of the health center’s policy and procedure manuals, including the Employee Handbook, ensuring proper and timely revision, maintenance and storage, both in hard copy and on the computer. Annually reviews and makes recommendations to Executive Management for improvement of company policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.
- Administers employee disciplinary policies and procedures; provides assistance to staff on disciplinary issues and actions to be taken; administers formal grievance procedure; participates in hearings; oversees the preparing and processing of responses to grievances.
- Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints.
- Oversees the timely revision and computerization of the health center’s job descriptions.
- Assumes responsibility for recruitment and retention efforts; works closely with directors to recruit, screen, interview, and select employees to fill vacant positions.
- Conducts exit interviews to document reasons behind separation.
- Recommend and maintain an organizational structure and staffing levels to accomplish company goals and objectives.
- Assists Executive Management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization’s wage and salary program.
- Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, and/or as directed by the CEO on personnel matters.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in human resources or business administration
- Minimum of four years of experience in a HR Generalist role preferably in a nonprofit setting
- HR Certification Preferred
Salary: $80K – $95K/annually
